Colavita/Cooking Light Lands 2 on the Podium!

Ok, I am lazy and tired from racing and an early morning flight home. So I will paste our director Jim's race report below. Sea Otter was a great race for our team. We all raced hard and Tina and Dotsie are on fire!!! It is so amazing to be a part of a team that has fun and wins too:-) Oh yeah, one more thing: all our worries of rain were quickly diminished when we woke up to a perfect sunny day for racing. It was the finishing touch on a great race for the team.

Race Report by our director Jim Williams:

The last race of the early spring swing through California took place today in Monterey at the Sea Otter Classic. The first 6 weeks of racing has seen the Colavita Cooking Light women gel as a team and this team chemistry has resulted in some strong performances. Today was no different. This year Sea Otter was just a 1 day race and it consisted of 22 laps on the Laguna Secca raceway, a demanding course with a total of 6,600 total feet of climbing. Early in the race it was the team of Victory Brewing that tried to make the race difficult by pushing the pace and launching attacks. The baton was then passed to the Webcor team. Who would attack each time up the climb in hopes of dropping the sprinters from the group. Colavita Cooking Lights plan was to be conservative until the latter laps and focus on the stage win. This strategy paid off as a group of about 20 riders made it up and over the climb on the last lap and descended the famous corkscrew that Laguna secca is known for. Tina Pic launched her sprint with Dotsie Bausch sweeping her wheel to prevent other riders from getting a draft. In the end Pic took the days honors with Victory Brewings Lauran Franges taking second. Knowing that Pic can get distracted on her way to the podium and stops to talk with everyone, Bausch took it upon herself to make sure that Tina had a chaperone. She finished 3rd for the day, making sure Pic had company on the podium.
