Adopting Miko, Part 1

On Friday, we drove to Ruidoso NM to meet a young border collie mix who had been in the humane society for three months. He needed a home. Three months is a long time to be in a shelter. I spotted him on http://www.petfinder.com/ several weeks ago, and it was breaking my heart no one was giving him a chance.

He greeted us with loving enthusiasm inside the shelter, and after our girls had a chance to meet him and approve, we adopted him! He was a trooper for driving four hours home just after meeting us. Here is our first pic at a stop at White Sands National Monument on our drive home.

Here is his big smile as he sat at Chad's feet on the beautiful gypsum sand. He is so full of love.

Here is the first picture of me with all three of my rescue dogs together at White Sands. I can't believe we have three dogs. We have definitely met our pet limit. Well, we actually have exceeded our limit, but we had to make an exception for this sweet boy. On the drive home, we decided to name him Miko, after a wonderful friend of ours who is facing cancer with strength and determination.
