We stayed at the most magical bed and breakfast in Vila Nova de Milfontes: Casa do Adro. It is the building above with the yellow trim. It is run by fairy godmother Idalia, her husband Sr. Antonio, and an adorable staff member, Lessia. The food was amazing (thank goodness we were doing a lot of working out, or we would have not fit in to the plane on our way home!), the other guests fascinating, and the house wonderful. It has been in their family for 300 years. Our room was the one with the hanging Santa. Hanging Santas are a very popular Christmas decoration: they are everywhere! It is funny. Of course we want to get one for our house for next Christmas.
The building with the blue trim is seriously the best restaurant I have eaten at anywhere in the world. It is called Tasco do Celso. I actually had to close my eyes while eating to take in how good the food was.
All of the little villages in Portugal are made up of pristine whitewashed buildings with either blue or yellow trim. They are very charming.
